What We Do

Dvorak Consulting is dedicated to working with your company to conceive and design innovative products and services for maximum competitive advantage. We offer the following services.

Innovation Management
The innovation process is usually poorly understood and more often poorly executed by most companies. In a nutshell, it is the process of devising new (at least for your company) solutions that address unmet customer needs. Of course, much easier said than done. It spans activities from idea generation to technology transfer.

Whether you looking to start a new market or enhance your position in a market for which you are already making products we align the innovation process with your business strategy. We help you determine what customer needs you are addressing, not by asking your customers, but by analyzing what they do and what they want to accomplish. This results in concrete objectives of the innovation that correspond to providing solutions to selected unmet needs of the current or new customers. Technology Analysis and Forecasting
By analyzing development trends of relevant technologies you can determine where the product innovation opportunities are. Depending on the purpose of the forecasting, the time horizon can vary from 3 years for purely tactical views to as much as 20 years for fundamental strategic views.

Today many technologies interact with each other and with societal forces in complex ways. Thus potential landscape available for technology analysis and forecasting is enormous. And since technology analysis and forecasting is not an exact science it is critical to define the scope and focus of the analysis at the very beginning.

We work with you to develop a framework uniquely reflective of your business area and strategy in which the analysis and forecasting proceeds. This ensures that the report and recommendations are relevant, actionable, and results oriented. It also provides a foundation for managing the innovation process that will result in the breakthrough products.

Technology Transfer
An important but often overlooked element of innovation is acquiring the technology necessary to implement the innovative products. Possible methods include buying a company with the competencies, developing the competencies in house, hiring contractors skilled in the areas, and licensing it from another source, i.e. technology transfer.

Technology transfer is a formal transfer of rights to use and commercialize new discoveries and innovations resulting from scientific research to another party. Universities typically transfer technology through protecting (using patents and copyrights), then licensing new innovations. The major steps in this process include the disclosure of innovations, patenting the innovation concurrent with publication of scientific research and licensing the rights to innovations to industry for commercial development. We can help you identify the sources of technologies and assist in acquiring them.

Software Development
Of course, until the solution is implemented it remains ineffective. From architecture to coding we can help you develop the software for the innovative products and services. We create software that not only effectively implements designs but also is easy to maintain and modify. This ensures that your development investment is recovered time and time again.

Intellectual Property Management
We can also help you protect your innovations through the generation of Intellectual Property. We can assist you in the identification of patentable innovations, conducting prior art searches, and writing up patent disclosures for submittal to a patent attorney who will file the official application the the US Patent Office.

We can assist you in developing an IP portfolio for your products that is consistent with your business strategy. IP portfolios assist in identifying and pursuing opportunities for licensing your IP.
